Welcome to the 23rd episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.
Part index. Part commentary. Part history lesson. All podcast.

This week Michael and Jeffrey examine the second of three "World of" mini-series written by John Byrne that not only helped celebrate Superman's 50th Anniversary but also shed some light on the backgrounds of Clark and the supporting cast. In World of Smallville Byrne reveals the "deep, dark secret" of Jonathan and Martha Kent before illuminating Lana Lang's role in the Millennium affair. Jeff and Mike are kind of critical regarding this series but overall it was well worth reading.

This week Jeffrey and Michael tackle their first month with only two Superman books to discuss as Action Comics was busy becoming Action Comics Weekly. Superman #18 and Adventures of Superman #441 both came out bearing the cover date of June 1988, which puts us at the 50th Anniversary mark since Action Comics #1 came out bearing the June 1938 cover date. Superman #18 continues the final story from Action Comics #600 and has Superman going back to Krypton while Adventures #441 has the return of Mr. Mxyzptlk. All of this and e-mails too.

Warning: Mike was still getting over a cold at this time and did not realize that the mute button was not functioning properly and thus there is much coughing to be had. Sorry about that.

This week Jeffrey and Michael go over the Superman books that came out with the July 1988 cover date. Superman #19 leads right into Adventures of Superman #442 this month and we see a Superman stripped of his powers but all is not lost. Not only does he get some help from the Metropolis Port Authority but also a handful of super-heroes, such as Elongated Man, Captain Marvel, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter. The villains? Psi-phon and Dreadnaught. All of this and e-mails too.

Welcome to the 26th episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.

It is a packed episode this week as Jeffrey and Mike talk about four different comics featuring the Post-Crisis Superman that took place on or around the cover date of August 1988. First up is Superman #20, which crosses over in the most bizarre fashion with Doom Patrol #10. This crossover actually takes place between two panels of Superman #20, so that was kind of weird. After covering those books the boys take on Adventures of Superman #443, which Jeffrey liked a lot more than he thought he would and Michael didn't really like it at all. Finally, Superman Annual #2 came out this month and much love is given to that story.

All of this and Michael's snoring dog too. This episode has everything.

Welcome to the 27th episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.

Michael and Jeffrey begin their discussion of what is quite possibly the most important storyline to hit the Superman books since MAN OF STEEL. The Supergirl Saga Parts 1 and 2 went down in the books with the cover date September 1988 and while it marked the beginning of the end of the John Byrne era of Superman it also marks the beginning of one of the bests runs of Superman ever.

Yes, we're biased here.

In addition to giving you the lowdown on just who the mysterious Supergirl that has been popping over the past few months and calling back to the story that went down in Superman #8 and Action Comics #591 Mike and Jeff also give in to listener demand and somewhat begrudgingly discuss Superman: The Earth Stealers.

No e-mails this week but they will return next time.
